  •   The Biotechnology based programme for society has three components specifically aimed at Women, SC/ST population and the rural community.  The programme has a far reaching impact on the target population as it is primarily aimed at economic empowerment of the community through the application of biotechnology.
  •   To create awareness on biotechnology packages for income generation and better health care in rural areas, in particular reference to the women, SC/ST families and disseminate the use of biotechnological process and tools for creating new avenues of employment in rural areas.
  •     To improve the socio-economic status of villagers, demonstration and training projects will be taken up in various areas such as wasteland utilization, vermiculture and vermicomposting,  mushroom cultivation, floriculture, biofertilizer, aquafarming medicinal & aromatic plant cultivation etc. under this programme. Various universities, public funded institutions, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, NGOs, voluntary and non-governmental organizations will be included in to implement the project. Department proposes the following programme:
    • Organize training programme on “Innovative Technology for Sustainable Rural Development” for farmers, unemployed youth.
    •  Establishment of technology resource centers in every district of the State and biotech activities at block level.
    •  Biotech activity at all district level to motivate young generation with the help of selected School(s)/Science Club(s) and to organize popular lectures and project building, etc.
    •  Entrepreneurship development Programme:  promoting and supporting Kutir Uddyog, small scale industries, bio-processing unites etc.
    •  Model Bio-villages ( Using Clean & Green technologies) is proposed  to be at least one in each district.
    •  Trained HR will be helped to establish for small/ large entrepreneur and for this fund may be arranged from external national and international funding agencies.
