In recent decades, life science research has enabled enormous breakthroughs in our understanding of fundamental molecular and cellular processes and mechanisms of life. Knowledge about genomic organization, studies of protein-protein interactions and the characterization of molecular structures have become central in modern life science research and technology. This knowledge forms the basis of the molecular understanding of health and disease. Biotechnology has marked its presence in medical, industrial, environmental, agricultural, forensics and many more areas directly touching the lives of human beings and is making a significant difference too.
The above program is focused to provide training in career-building topics those are normally not covered in traditional science curricula. Presented through a series of career building sessions, the topics to be discussed include effective negotiation and communication skills for the workplace, successful leadership methods for women, communicating science effectively, working in a team environment, launching and sustaining a successful career in science, establishing a strong inperson and internet presence, publishing in respected journals and writing compelling grant proposals. The sessions will be highly interactive and will also include practicing skills and role playing. Apart from International faculty, distinguished Indian guest speakers would include eminent experts from academia, scientific community, civil society organizations and government organization. A local field visit to examine some initiatives in the area would also be organized to provide first-hand experience of the subjects under consideration.
Post graduation in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Environmental Science/Bioinformatics/Life Science.
|DURATION AND FEE DETAILS|
Hostel and accommodation are not provided by the institution. Candidates will arrange for all by themselves at their own risk.
Fees to be submitted through demand draft only, drawn in favour of Director, Uttarakhand Council for Biotechnology, Biotech Bhavan payable at Haldi, U.S. Nagar before 15 days of commencement of programme.
Training fee is non-refundable.
The fee of the candidates belongs to the poor families may be waved off by the Director, UCB on the basis of recommendations of selection committee.
|DATES AND VENUE|
These Programs shall start on scheduled date at different laboratory of UCB, Haldi, U.S. Nagar under the supervision of respective lab In-charge.
A certificate of completion will be awarded to the participants on recommendation respective lab In-charge at the end of the program.

|TERMS & CONDITIONS|
The topic of dissertation is allotted by the Biotech Bhavan, UCB, pertaining to various areas of life sciences.
During the training, candidates have to work on every working day of the stipulated period of 6 days a week. Scholars and students are permitted to use canteen and library facilities of the council.
Transportation, accommodation, contingency and other living expenditures shall be borne by the candidates.
Strict discipline must be ensured by the candidate at all times otherwise disciplinary action shall be taken and the Training can be terminated at any time without giving any reason thereof.
UCB has the authority of terminating the academic program if the candidate’s behavior is found unhealthy or lacking commitment.
Council shell not provided any stipend to the candidates.
Eligibility for certificate course is minimum final year post graduate.
After completion of training/dissertation programme students has to submit a bound report to the concern UCB Lab.
Work done during training/ dissertation shall be treated as Council property. Without permission students/ candidates are not allowed to publish any data / report for personal purpose.
